Early spring tilling and planting

We have had temperatures in the 70s for about a week now.  We rototilled the whole garden on Wednesday, and Joanne planted onions and shallots.  We also transplanted four leeks that survived the winter.

Today, I hauled compost into the garden for about 2 hours:
Then I rototilled this in.  Finally, I made two more rows and planted Leeks (Seeds) and Fennel (seeds).

From left: fennel, Leeks, shallots and onions.

It is pretty exhausting today, working without my Joanne.

Winter is breaking

We have received seeds from Totally Tomatoes (peppers and tomatoes), and have ordered a couple of other things from Jung.  I'll publish this list shortly.

Last year I started seedlings on March 26.  This year I need to start a couple of weeks earlier.  Goal: seedlings started this weekend or next.  Joanne has already started the leeks.
